Meet Scott:
Scott received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University in May 1997. He started his career in 1998 with Kalcher, Vanderwal & Torrey, P.C. in Traverse City. Getting started with all things tax and accounting, Scott worked with a diverse group of clients serving small businesses, individuals, trusts & estates, non-profits and governmental units. Small business, individual and trust taxation were a big part of his responsibilities.
He received his CPA license in September of 2000. Auditing became a focus early in his career. This led to an almost exclusive specialty in non-profit auditing and financial reporting. He stayed with that firm for 21 years.
In the years since, Scott has worked for other local firms in various capacities. Financial reporting and taxation have continued to be Scott’s primary focus. He believes his written and verbal communication skills have helped him to be an effective supervisor and manager. Teaching and training have been a passion of his throughout his career. Scott joined Intrust CPA in May 2023.
Scott enjoys music, movies, fishkeeping, and the outdoors. Spending time with his family and cats is what keeps him going.
