President

Meet Jon:

Jon graduated from Michigan’s Calvin College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a double minor in International Business and Philosophy. While in college, Jon had the opportunity to study and work abroad in China, The Netherlands, and Switzerland. Jon started his accounting career with Plante Moran – at the time the 11th largest CPA firm in the US and the largest firm in Michigan. Following his eight years of employment with Plante Moran, Jon accepted a position with Cherry Growers, a Northern Michigan fruit processing cooperative, where he served as Financial Controller and then Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer for five years.

With this background in both public accounting and private industry, Jon’s primary focus is to understand tax law, accounting procedures, and financial strategies, and then share that knowledge with individuals and business owners so they can make sound financial decisions. Specific areas of expertise include federal taxation law, tax credit financing, long range strategic and financial planning, entity structuring, financial improvement measures, and financial reporting. His excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills along with a proven ability to lead and motivate, and deliver results and value make him an outstanding resource for all your tax and accounting needs.

In warmer weather, Jon enjoys camping all over the state with family and friends. He also spends time designing, stocking, and maintaining reef aquariums. And he always makes time to spend with his wife and five children, whether vacationing all around the world or accompanying the kids to the bus stop or to their various sports practices and games.

Jon serves as a board member for the Firefly Children’s Initiative, a local non-profit organization that provides financial support and information to prospective adoptive families while working with orphanages and group homes all around the world. He is also a Cub Scouts Den Leader for a local troop of youngsters, planning and supervising many exciting opportunities for instruction and entertainment. He and his family are also active in the Foster Care system, providing a loving, stable home to children in crisis.
