We’ve assembled a list of frequently asked questions to help introduce our company and explain what we do.  If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

What is a CPA?

CPA stands for Certified Public Accountant.  It is a designation used for accountants.  To become a CPA you must pass an exam, meet special requirements and commit to follow a code of ethics.

Who needs a CPA?

We believe having a CPA is a good idea for everyone.  Navigating a complex financial world can be tricky.   At Intrust we help our clients succeed in business as well as their personal lives.

How do you keep up with the latest tax laws?

We stay up to date by reading journals, newsletters and by taking continuing education as required by our firm.

Are you a member of any professional tax or accounting organizations?

Yes, our principal is a member of the AICPA (the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) as well as MICPA (The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants)

When can I expect to receive my completed tax returns back from you?

Tax returns are processed on a first in first out basis.  Naturally, some tax returns are more difficult than others and can take a week or more.  Other, simpler returns can be completed and reviewed within 2-3 days.

How long has Intrust been in business?

Intrust, formally VDL CPA, has been in business for over 30 years.

Do you store my tax information? How will it be stored and for how long?

A copy of your your tax return and related materials used to prepare your return  are stored electronically for seven years.  It’s recommended that you keep your copy of your return and original documents for the same time period as well.

Are you available after tax season if I have questions?

Of course!  At Intrust we strive to have long term relationships with our clients.  That means we’re available to help long after the tax deadlines have passed.
